Trip to the top of Mt St. Helens

After a mile in the forest you climb a couple of miles over big boulders

After the rocks, then a steep climb up the remaining ash.

Once at the top the view into the crater was wonderful with Mt Rainier and Spirit Lake in the distanceThe top had some snow so don't get too close to the edge as it drops off really fast.

A view of the edge and Mt Adams in the distance.

We went up Nov 3, 2007

Igloo in our back yard

Snow was deep enough in Renton to build an igloo on Christmas day

Stephen worked the inside while Brett and I worked the outside

One of our first guest to our lodge was Shawna

Stephen spent the night in the igloo and Eric his nephew came to wake him in the morning

Katy liked relaxing in the igloo.

The Arizona grand kids liked the igloo
Jordan and Erin watched Brett and Stephen clean out the igloo.

Hiking

I have been on some fun hikes. Here is one going to Kendall Catwalk in the Cascade mountains.
The Catwalk is cut through the side of a mountain

Just past the Catwalk is Ridge Lake, a good spot for lunch.

Here is a mountain goat on a day hike!

Just another view from the Catwalk

Check out the video of the rock going off the cliff

Beehive

The Yellow jackets decided to make a nest in our birdhouse this summer. Everyday I checked the beehive to see what was going on. Each day it got bigger and bigger. Check out these pictures. Stephen was the only one that got a sting.
I would take the pictures at night when the bees were settled down.

Finally the time came and the destruction started. Winds, rain or a racoon?

It has been an interesting summer of watching the yellow jackets build their home.
