Hike to Rachel and Rampart Lakes Sept 30, 2010

This trail had lots of beautiful waterfalls

Streams to cross and walk through

The waterfalls came cascading down the hill

Here is my favorite waterfall over a huge bolder

The fall leaves where really beautiful

Rachel Lake was a welcome site following a steep climb

I fished for a few minutes while Steve took pictures
and Gary found a "Geocache"

Should have gone swimming as it was a warm day

We started to climb some more to the Rampart
Lakes

Steve and Gary were patiently waiting for me, although here I was above them

Beautiful stream running through the fall colors

A good lunch spot next to the Rampart Lake,
Fun fishing spot too

The lake was beautiful and full of fish (that wouldn't bite)

Time to start back down the hill to Rachel Lake

A great place for a rest and a picture

Another look at my favorite waterfall

This one was a close second!

Are you tired of waterfalls? I thought they were great!

Kendall Katwalk Sept 2010

A Good hike in the rain is better than a day at work!

Start of the Katwalk in the fog

The Katwalk in the fog. Can see a snow patch in the distance

Just had to stand on the broken Egg rock

Looking for the Geocache

Gary found a Geocache just past the Katwalk

Pretty little "wet" wildflowers

Some pretty waterfalls

Big ones and little ones

Gary and I went for a hike in the rain, but had a good time.
12 miles round trip and ~2500 elevation gain.

Climbing Mt Timpanogos Utah Aug 14, 2010

Brett and Stephen at the first waterfall

Allen with fresh legs

Up and down this beautiful climb

We are going to start the real climb soon.

Stephen and Brett on the trail, look behind and down!

Once over the first wall you can see the goal at the top.

Rest at Emerald Lake (I did, they went over to the snow.)
We are at 10, 300 feet and going up to 11,750

Now at the top looking down on the lake and snow

Stephen at the top and made it easily!

Brett and I got there too, and Brett was very
patient waiting for me!

Brett and Stephen at the top lookout shelter

A picture of accomplishment, sitting on thevery highest rocks

We saw lots of mountain goats. Just beyond his nose
is part of the trail we climbed up and down.

Goats were a plenty and close by. See how steep the mountain is.

We saw some by the lake on our way down
Really close as this isn't with any zooming

Two more on our trail we had to wait for them to cross

Relaxing on our way down

This is the first waterfall again, but we are close to being done!
I don't even look tired!
14 miles, and 4,850 elevation gain. Wow, at that elevation I was breathing hard.

Great hike with a good support group, my two sons
